Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Mavuno Marketplace collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal information when buyers, sellers, farmers, cooperatives, drivers, service providers, and visitors use the platform.

1. Scope of This Policy

This policy applies to Mavuno websites, marketplace pages, dashboards, mobile-friendly services, checkout flows, delivery tools, support channels, and related features that link to or reference this Privacy Policy.

Third-party websites, payment providers, logistics providers, and external services may have their own privacy practices. Mavuno is not responsible for those separate policies.

2. Information We Collect

Depending on how you use Mavuno, we may collect:

  • Account details: name, email, telephone number, username, password hash, role, and account preferences.
  • Identity and verification data: government identification, business registration, farm or cooperative details, licenses, permits, driver documents, tax details, and verification results.
  • Profile information: business name, seller biography, location, region, delivery area, profile image, and service information.
  • Listing data: titles, descriptions, categories, prices, quantities, units, photographs, availability, condition, and product location.
  • Transaction data: orders, invoices, receipts, refunds, disputes, escrow status, payout records, and payment references.
  • Delivery data: pickup and delivery addresses, driver assignments, route information, delivery status, proof of collection, proof of delivery, and location information where enabled.
  • Communication data: messages, support requests, reviews, feedback, complaints, and dispute submissions.
  • Technical data: IP address, browser, device type, operating system, session identifiers, access logs, and security events.
  • Usage data: searches, viewed listings, clicks, saved items, filters, feature usage, and marketplace interactions.
Mavuno seeks to collect only information reasonably needed to operate, secure, improve, and comply with legal obligations for the marketplace.

3. How We Use Information

  • Create, maintain, verify, and secure user accounts.
  • Publish listings and connect buyers, sellers, farmers, cooperatives, drivers, and service providers.
  • Process orders, payments, escrow, refunds, payouts, deliveries, and disputes.
  • Communicate transaction updates, account notices, security alerts, support responses, and policy changes.
  • Detect fraud, abuse, unauthorized access, unsafe listings, payment risk, and policy violations.
  • Personalize marketplace content, search results, categories, and recommendations.
  • Improve platform performance, usability, reliability, analytics, and customer support.
  • Comply with legal, tax, regulatory, accounting, audit, and law-enforcement requirements.
  • Enforce Mavuno’s Terms of Service and marketplace policies.

4. How Information May Be Shared

Mavuno does not sell personal information in exchange for money. Information may be shared where needed to operate the marketplace, complete transactions, protect users, or comply with legal obligations.

5. Payments and Financial Information

Payment transactions may be handled by approved third-party payment processors. Mavuno may receive transaction references, payment status, payer or payee identifiers, refund details, chargeback information, and risk signals.

  • Mavuno may not directly store complete card numbers or sensitive authentication data where payment providers handle those details.
  • Bank, mobile money, or payout details may be collected where necessary to send funds.
  • Financial records may be retained to satisfy accounting, tax, fraud, dispute, and regulatory obligations.

6. Cookies and Similar Technologies

Mavuno may use cookies, local storage, session identifiers, and similar technologies to keep users signed in, remember preferences, secure sessions, measure performance, understand usage, and improve marketplace features.

  • Essential technologies: support login, security, navigation, checkout, and account functions.
  • Preference technologies: remember language, layout, category, region, and display choices.
  • Analytics technologies: help understand traffic, errors, page usage, and feature performance.
  • Security technologies: detect suspicious sessions, abuse, fraud, and unauthorized activity.

Browser settings may allow users to block or delete cookies, but some Mavuno features may not function correctly without essential cookies.

7. Data Retention

Mavuno retains information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide services, maintain records, resolve disputes, prevent fraud, enforce agreements, and meet legal obligations.

  • Active account information may be retained while the account remains open.
  • Transaction, payment, escrow, delivery, tax, and dispute records may be retained after account closure.
  • Security logs may be retained to investigate fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
  • Backup copies may remain for a limited period after deletion from active systems.

8. Information Security

Mavuno uses reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information from unauthorized access, loss, alteration, misuse, or disclosure.

  • Authentication and access controls.
  • Password hashing and secure session management.
  • Monitoring, logging, fraud review, and suspicious activity detection.
  • Restricted access to sensitive operational information.
  • Secure hosting, backups, updates, and vulnerability management practices.
No online system can guarantee absolute security. Users should use strong passwords, protect devices, and report suspected unauthorized access immediately.

9. Your Privacy Rights and Choices

Depending on applicable law and your location, you may have rights to:

  • Request access to personal information associated with your account.
  • Correct inaccurate or incomplete information.
  • Request deletion of information, subject to legal and operational retention requirements.
  • Object to or limit certain uses of information.
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

Mavuno may need to verify identity before completing a privacy request. Some information cannot be deleted immediately where retention is required for payments, disputes, fraud prevention, taxes, safety, or legal compliance.

10. International and Cross-Border Processing

Information may be processed or stored in countries where Mavuno, its hosting providers, payment processors, logistics partners, or service providers operate. Where required, Mavuno uses appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.

11. Children’s Privacy

Mavuno is not intended for children who cannot legally enter into marketplace transactions. Accounts for minors must be created and managed only where permitted by law and with the involvement of an authorized parent, guardian, institution, or responsible adult.

12. Third-Party Links and Services

Mavuno may contain links to payment providers, logistics companies, government services, maps, social platforms, or other external services. Their collection and use of information is governed by their own privacy policies.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy

Mavuno may update this Privacy Policy to reflect legal, operational, security, payment, delivery, technology, or marketplace changes. The updated version becomes effective on the date published unless another effective date is stated.
